How Self-Pay Therapy Works: Costs, HSA/FSA & Superbills

Hope & Bloom is a self-pay practice. We don't bill insurance, which keeps things simpler and keeps your information between us. Here is how it works in practice.

What sessions cost

Individual sessions run from $105 (30-minute phone) to $190 (60-minute video). Couples and family sessions are $210, and a diagnostic intake is $225. Optional support between sessions, such as text check-ins, is priced separately, and recurring plans can save 5–9% compared with booking a la carte. The Therapy & Coaching page lists every rate.

No surprises: the Good Faith Estimate

Before services begin you'll receive a written Good Faith Estimate of expected costs. That way you can see the plan in writing and decide with full information.

How payment works

Payments are taken by secure text-to-pay through Ivy Pay. It accepts credit and debit cards as well as HSA and FSA cards. Therapy with a licensed clinician is generally an eligible expense, but check with your plan administrator about what documentation they require.

Can insurance reimburse you?

Possibly. You can ask for a superbill to submit to your own plan for out-of-network reimbursement. A few things to know first:

  • Reimbursement depends on your plan's out-of-network benefits and is never guaranteed.
  • Insurers require a diagnosis on the superbill, which is shared with them when you file.
  • Only therapy sessions can be submitted. Coaching, case management and text support can't.
  • Check your benefits before you start, and ask me if you'd like help thinking it through.

When the standard rate isn't workable

The Community Access Rate is a reduced rate for any client for whom the standard rate isn't currently workable, whether you're uninsured, underinsured or insured. No proof of income, insurance status or immigration status is required. Spots are limited, and the rate is set together with your provider at intake.

Is self-pay right for you?

For many people it is, especially when you want to choose your own provider, keep a diagnosis off your insurance record, or find a clinician who works in Spanish. For others, using in-network insurance makes more financial sense. It's worth comparing before you decide.
